Wordle: Yoga

Finding Paragraph 3- Would Yoga Be A Better Form Of A Medicine?

Different yoga poses help your body in different ways. For example: Downward Dog is supposed to help with your breathing. Standing Forward Bend pose helps you maintain your focus just a bit more while Gate pose helps better your circulation or flow of blood throughout your body. There are medications out there for it so it makes you wonder, why wouldn’t you just go out and get a prescription for it instead of practicing yoga? But the difference between yoga and medications, yoga’s side effects aren’t as harmful to the point of death as medications would be. (Dr. Maxwell)

Finding Paragraph 2- Why Hasn’t Yoga Been Introduced Into The Medical Field As An Alternative?

If you were to turn on the TV, you would see at least one commercial about yoga practices or a place you can practice yoga at in your area. You would see different practicing yoga and saying how much of a relief it is physically, mentally, and money wise. So we ask why has yoga not been introduced into the medical field as an alternative. For each medication prescribed, there is a yoga pose for it. For each pain a person has, there is a yoga routine that could be done to ease that pain. (Dr. Richard Usatine) He believes that if yoga is made an alternative, doctor’s offices will not make as much money as they would before. Pharmacists will be obsolete and their job won’t seem to matter as much. This whole process is based around money.

Finding Paragraph 1- How Could A Certain Medication Be Helpful For You Yet Have Even More Harmful Side Effects?

With more and more people getting sick and in pain, the medical field is having plenty of patients come through. They are not feeling like they should or are having excruciating pains that just will not go away. That is when they turn to different medicines and medications. There is a woman in her 30’s and she goes to the doctor saying she has back pains. He prescribes her some strong pain killers to help ease her pain. She takes the pills, and weeks later, she has a heart attack. Now how could a certain medication be helpful for you yet have even more harmful side effects? There is a pain medication called Phenazophridine that is supposed to make a person’s pains go away. The side effect of that particular medication is that your urine may change colors or have a color to it. A man in Pennsylvania took this pill and experienced for the first time in his life blue urine. Imagine that? I always thought that a medication is supposed to make you feel better and relieved, not worst than what you already feel. There has to be a better way for someone to get better without having harmful side effects during the process. (Dr. Koretz) Medications will always be out but they will always have side effects to them too.

This is too many medications a person is asked to take. Imagine how badly their arm, or wherever the shot is inserted at, will hurt after. There has to be a less painful way for them to feel relieved. Look below at the other picture.

This lady is at peace doing yoga, rather than getting a whole bunch of liquids shot up her arm. It is important because yoga calms the body down and makes it less tense. Having a good deal of shots going into your arm can make a person really tense.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #1

"Maybe they don't need a particular medication anymore, or maybe they should have a lower dose or a new, safer alternative," Dr. Koretz says. "If a patient is genuinely afraid to try a particular medication, I can try to come up with a solution. Maybe there's a non-drug option we can try that might be similarly effective."
"It's always appropriate, with any medication, to sit down and talk about it," says UCLA Medical Center geriatrician Brandon Koretz, MD. "Patients should feel they have the right to ask about any medication, particularly if they feel there's a risk. We may want to have a whole appointment just to talk about your medications."

Dr. Koretz explains that there is a safer and easier alternative rather than taken medications. Also, if a person is afraid to try a medication because of its possible side effects, then they should have the option to try something else. There has to be something out there that is just as effective as an oral form of a medication. Whenever you are prescribed a prescription, it is best to talk it over with whoever prescribed it to you. The more you know about it, the better off you are.

See this man in the doctor's office doing the Lotus position? He looks quite comfortable doing this rather than taking medications. Yoga can be used as another form of medicine and apparently, doctors agree as well. Not every medication can be what it is told to be; some medications are more harmful than others. The worst that can happen with yoga, is you hurt yourself doing a pose without proper supervision.

This link is about yoga and the many different forms of them that there are. Depending on what form of medicine you may be told to take, there is a type of yoga in substitute for it, so that is how it is helpful.

This link lists some of the many different medications/drugs there are out in the world, be they legal or not legal. It would be useful because it lets people know how many there are and what they can be taken for.

This link tell you about the different side effects there are for a variety to medications. It's helpful because a person could look up the meds they are prescribed, and see the possible side effects of it. Wolters Kluwer last updated this web page.

This link tells about benefits of practicing yoga and how it helps you through almost anything you would need a medication for. It's helpful because it gives others a new look at yoga and that the poses aren't always too difficult for the body to handle. Richard Rosen wrote this.

The Things I Wonder..

Why hasn’t yoga been introduced into the medical field before, and if it was, why hasn’t anyone thought of getting it patented? Would it be better for someone to practice yoga instead of drinking medicine or popping a pill? How could a certain medication be helpful for you yet have even more harmful side effects? More importantly, would practicing yoga be more hurtful to doctors because of less money it would cost? Most doctors would not like the fact that they will be getting less money because of yoga practices. Could there be a “pro” to doctors who let their patients practice yoga instead of taking medications? Even though the patients won’t be purchasing the medications, if patients see that the yoga is helping them more, maybe they would return back to that same doctor. If you had the choice, would you rather practice yoga than take medications? Think about your health. What do you think would be better for you? But hey, these are just questions I have.

The Story Behind Yoga and Medicine

Yoga has always been a way for people to relieve stress and manage through their everyday lives. The various positions stretch your body and allow you to breathe in a more relaxed state. So why shouldn’t yoga be another form of medicine? Most pills and liquid forms of medicine have side effects that are harmful than what they are supposed to be treating you for. Yoga is a natural way for someone to heal themselves without having to worry about side effects that pills and liquid medications have. In the past, people have looked to medication to relieve pain, anxiety, and numerous amounts of other things they may be feeling.

Why I Chose My Topic

Yoga was always something that fascinated me. The way you can allow your body to do certain positions and breathing techniques amazes me. I never was a big fan of taking any type of liquid form of medication. Drinking it made me even sicker. So I wondered if there was another way to relieve whatever pain I had without drinking liquid medicine or popping a pill? That’s when yoga came into play! Instead of having to spend money or pills or liquid medications, I can stay home, save money, and practice different yoga techniques. I would much rather work out my body than get forced to take an oral form of medicine.
